BROADCAST METEOROLOGIST - SPECTRUM NEWS 1 BUFFALO

March 2019 - Current

  • Primary weekday meteorologist, covering Buffalo, Rochester, Central New York, and Worcester, MA television markets.

  • Serve those in need by communicating potential disaster and risks in a weather emergency on television, online and on social media platforms.

  • Provide marine forecasts for vessels on international waterways to include Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, and the Niagara River.

  • Mentor and coach to various team members in addition to providing resources for meteorology interns and shadows.

  • Update the website and weather app daily.

  • Manage and actively provide written communication and interaction with civilians utilizing Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.

  • Manage time well and meet specific live television deadlines.

  • Lead staff meetings daily with forecast updates to aid in planning for news coverage.

  • Re-developed ‘Project Weather School’ initiative creating bulletins and workbooks in order to further weather education in various classrooms across New York State.

  • Attended upward of 50 schools and universities to speak with students during the 2019, 2021, and 2022, 2023 and 2024 school year.​

BROADCAST METEOROLOGIST - WIVB

March 2016 - February 2019

  • Acted as primary meteorologist for Weekend Wake Up, 4PM, 6:30 PM and 10 PM newscasts.

  • Evaluated, composed, and performed forecasts for broadcasts across Western New York and parts of Canada.

  • Provide live weather in the field during severe weather and during community events.

  • Created graphics, charts, and tables used on television to convey the weather story of the day or week.

  • Influenced staffing decisions by office leaders based off of research on incoming storms.

  • Produced environmental science stories to help educate viewers about the climate they live in and how to protect it.

  • Interviewed local politicians and executives with regard to environmental findings and policies.

  • Proficient in WSI Max software.

BROADCAST METEOROLOGIST & WEATHER PRODUCER - WHAM

May 2014 - March 2016

  • Anchored and communicated the weather during the stations midday show along with coordinated cut-ins with partners on Fox Rochester.

  • Effectively presented the daily weather story by utilizing innovative graphics and short animated clips that visually demonstrate future weather patterns.

  • Delivered the complicated lake-driven forecast for different radio stations across the Rochester DMA in a clear and concise way. ​

 STORM FORECASTING AND OBSERVATION

June 2012

  • Chased severe storms and tornadic supercells across 12 states as well as 1 Canadian province.

  • Spent 2 weeks forecasting target areas where supercells were most likely to develop.
